In the year 1970 Stevie Wonder left MoTown and recorded two solo albums by himself. Berry Gordy was shocked to hear this by Stevie Wonder and Berry Gord accepted Stevie Wonder's request for more autonomy and complete creative control as well as rights to all of his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollar MoTown Records contract in 1972. This entitled Stevie Wonder to a higher royalty rate and more full creative control as well as the right to his own music, that very few artists had at that time period. The contract allowed Wonder's songs to talk about controversial topics like war, poverty, drugs, and politics.Stevie is famous for his political songs such as, You Haven't Done Anything, that took a political swipe at Richard Nixon. The first album he had released with his new agreement with MoTown was Music Of My Mind in 1972. Talking Book was Stevie Wonder's album released in the latter part of 1972. It is still a major piece of music. Which included the number one hit song, Superstition.
